Answer: Nuxeo has a standard field named uid that you should use for this. It's unused but present in all document types by default and designed for this kind of use. Relations could work but the storage and query are much more complex, so slower.

Answer: Nuxeo 5.7.2 supports the basic CMIS 1.1 APIs but not most of the new CMIS 1.1 features, including the two you reference. JIRA NXP-11996 is available to track progress regarding this issue.
